Pooled testing
Why use pooled testing?
Assess the infection level of a group of co-grazing cattle whilst only paying for one faecal egg count
- Reduces cost of monitoring
- Accurate estimation of the group mean egg count
- Useful for regular wormer efficacy checks
How to
You – collect fresh faecal samples from 10-15 animals in individual bags (each sample should include faeces from 3 different areas of the faecal pat – click here for tips)
Your faecal egg count provider will mix the same amount from each sample
One sample is then processed from the pooled faeces
